As brooding as Bach, as dark as Heathcliffe: this is a towering monument to all dark forces that move us to delight. Tannic, yes so it could use cellar time and certainly decant 1-2 hours when opening it. Dark fruit, tar, violets and truffles comingle and delight.

Barolo food pairings: anchovy pizza, porcini mushrooms, prime rib beef.

Reviews and Ratings

Marziano Abbona Terlo Ravera 2011 is a broody, big and tarry Barolo from the Piedmont wine region. Tannic with amazing acidity, this 100% Nebbiolo full-bodied red could benefit some time in cellar, about five years. If you must open it, decant two hours prior to serving. Look for ripe black cherries, dark chocolate, tobacco and spice flavours on this Barolo with a lot of character. - Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
