Marqués de la Concordia Lagunilla Reserva from Rioja is a sophisticated, medium to full-bodied red offering aromas of dark plum, vanilla oak, and earthy tobacco. It's dry with polished tannins and balanced acidity. Serve it slightly below room temperature with braised short ribs as the wine's silky structure and savory depth will enhance the richness of the meat, or pair it with aged Manchego cheese where the wine's complex flavors will complement the nutty, tangy notes beautifully. Under the direction of winemaker Carmelo Santalices, this wine spends a minimum of twelve months in oak barrels followed by an additional two years of bottle aging before release. Founded in 1885 by Felipe Lagunilla, the winery played a crucial role in helping Rioja recover from the devastating phylloxera crisis by introducing American rootstock grafting techniques. Cellar this wine for 4-6 years to watch it develop even greater complexity.

Food pairings: braised short ribs, aged Manchego cheese, grilled lamb chops.
