From the Kamptal D.A.C., Waldschütz Ried Hasel 2021 Grüner Veltliner is an amazing value single vineyard Grüner at $16. Dry, medium-bodied, juicy and so fresh with bright apple, soft citrus zest, white pepper and minerally notes from beginning to end, it is silky on the palate with a long lemony finish. Very refined and food versatile, chill and enjoy it with pan-fried trout or a seafood Alfredo.

Grüner Veltliner food pairings: veal cutlets, mild Thai curries, Comté cheese.

Reviews and Ratings

Craig Haynes - WSET3 FWS SWS IWS rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The wine maker team responsible for the 2021 vintage of this Grüner Veltliner has crafted a delicious wine. This feels captivatingly crisp, juicy, and light to medium bodied. It lights up my senses with notes of crunchy green apples, fresh lemon and tangerine slices, as well as light touches of flint and slate. The taste is my favourite part of this wine.

Grüner Veltliner has been described as an ideal palate cleanser for rich foods owing to its crisp acidity, so pair this bottle with that info as your guiding star. Enjoy.

If appellation awareness lifts your lid, this Grüner Veltliner is classified as Kamptal DAC, which is located western Austria.
