Reviews and Ratings

Mymi Thesingingsommelier - Sommelier, FWS rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Since the 14th century, the Frescobaldi family has been a strong supporter of the arts. In 2013, Tiziana Frescobaldi created a prize entitled “Artisti per Frescobaldi” for new generations of artists who mainly use photography and video installations as their mediums of expression.
Each year, three handpicked artists compete by creating a piece inspired by an element of the Frescobaldi estate which will then be featured as individual wine labels to appear on uniquely engraved magnum bottles. Part of the proceeds from the sales of the bottles are donated to an association that promotes and supports contemporary art.
The current edition (for the 2011 vintage) featured the works of Yuri Ancarani, Michael Sailstorfer and Jorinde Voigt. Their work was judged in October 2014 by three major museum directors and the prestigious prize was been awarded to Michael Sailstorfer .
Aristi per Frescobaldi is very unique but to me, the wine, “Montesodi Vendemmia Dedicata” is the masterpiece.
The wine is sold in a beautiful wooden oak case containing 3 1,5litre bottles of the wine with each of the labels designed by the selected artists. Not only are the labels spectacular but the shape of the bottle is quite exclusive, conceived and designed on the basis of a Late Renaissance model.
And then, there is the wine: 100% Sangiovese captured in the glass reflecting a deep rustic garnet color.
Very fragrant on the nose with ripe cherries & blackberries, dark cacao, toasted marshmallows, hint of barnyard and dried bouquet of Italian herbs.
Warm, spicy, ample and rich on the palate with a riveting acidity and robust tannins. Loads of sour cherries, campfire wood smoke, cigar box, a hint of raisin and a creaminess, almost like a cherry blossom chocolate. Lingering finish….

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
