Reviews and Ratings

Giraudon's Chitry Pinot Noir comes from the most northerly pinot noir vineyards in Burgundy and border Chablis and the soils and climate more closely relate to Chablis, Champagne and the Loire than the Côte d'Or. This wine is made from hand harvested grapes fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks. It is almost translucent and offers great freshness and purity; it has beautiful, aromatic fruit notes of cherry, strawberry, lilacs and roses on top of a fresh, earthy core. But the magic is in the incredible levels of crushed minerality, light bodied sap and Burgundian terroir that emerge from the glass with some air. It is silky; high-toned, pristine fruit leads the palate followed by sweet cedar and spice. If you are looking for a syrah masquerading as a pinot noir, this will not be for you. But if you are into the esoteric and filigreed this will be your new go-to wine that will cause many to discover the graces of the understated. This wine is only available to members of Cellar Direct.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
