Reviews and Ratings

Magnetic Hill Terroir Generator Marquette from New Brunswick is a bright, medium-bodied dry red made from the cold-hardy Marquette grape, a Minnesota-bred hybrid developed specifically to survive brutal northern winters, grown on the south-facing slopes of the Everett family's historic 1867 estate overlooking the city of Moncton, where the maritime climate and sandy clay loam soils lend the wine a fresh, distinctive character all its own. It opens with an inviting nose of ripe Morello cherry, crushed wild blueberry, and a dusting of warm baking spice, with a juicy, food-friendly palate framed by lively acidity and soft, approachable tannins that carry through to a clean, spiced finish. Serve it lightly chilled and enjoy it through 2028. Winemaker Zach Everett spent many years from 2008 onward experimenting with different grape varieties and hybrids to find the ones best suited to survive New Brunswick's cold maritime winters, eventually settling on Marquette as one of the estate's star performers, with the first significant harvest not arriving until 2017. The Terroir Generator earned a Double Gold at the All Canadian Wine Championships in 2025, a remarkable achievement for a winery that began life not with grapes at all but as the province's largest strawberry and raspberry u-pick farm. - Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
