Orsogna Lunaria's Coste di Moro Montepulciano d'Abruzzo from Abruzzo is a rounded, medium to full-bodied red wine offering notes of black plum, hazelnut, espresso and clove. This dry wine displays supple tannins and generous fruit that make it immediately approachable while offering excellent aging potential. Serve it at room temperature with eggplant parmigiana as the wine's acidity balances the melted mozzarella and tomato sauce, or pair it with herb-roasted guinea fowl where the wine's earthy complexity complements the gamey flavors. Winemaker Pasquale Pizzolo ferments this organic Montepulciano using indigenous yeasts and ages it in a combination of stainless steel and oak to preserve freshness while adding subtle spice. The Lunaria estate follows biodynamic principles and practices lunar calendar viticulture, harvesting and bottling according to moon phases to capture optimal energy in their wines. This approachable Montepulciano represents excellent value and will continue to evolve through 2035.

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo food pairings: lasagne, meat-lover's pizza, roast game birds.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
