Luckett Vineyards The Old Bill from Nova Scotia is a bold, full-bodied red offering aromas of cooked brambleberry, sun-dried fig, and hints of aged tobacco. It's dry with robust tannins and concentrated dark fruit. Serve it at room temperature with grilled ribeye steak as the wine's powerful structure and intense flavors will enhance the charred meat's savory richness beautifully, or pair it with beef stew where the wine's depth and lengthy finish will complement the hearty, slow-cooked vegetables and tender meat perfectly. Executive winemaker Mike Mainguy, who studied at Niagara College and Brock University before joining the winery at its public opening in 2011, crafts this wine from a blend of Castel, Pinot Noir, and Lucie Kuhlmann grapes aged for 15 months in a combination of French, Hungarian, and American oak barrels. Founded by grocer-turned-grape-grower Pete Luckett, who planted experimental vines on a beautiful 92-acre farm overlooking the Gaspereau Valley in 2000, the estate is now home to an iconic British red phone booth nestled among the vines that actually functions for calls anywhere in Canada. Enjoy now or cellar for 5-9 years.

Food pairings: grilled ribeye steak, beef stew with root vegetables, aged cheddar cheese.
