Reviews and Ratings

Alex & Priya - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

A: Beautiful nose of lavender and incense, fig and raspberry jam, rhubarb, cinnamon and mocha. A warm sensation off the nose as well. Barrique use is evident but it doesn't take away from the character of this wine, it just rounds out it's austerity. Round and plush palate with great acidity, very perfumed, warm notes as well as strawberry jam and licorice. Finishes long and smooth with ample acid and no taste of wood. Great $20 wine! 90 pts

P: Smells like a zinfandel, deep, rich and fruity with almost a skunk smell on the exhale. Sure doesn't taste like a zinfandel at all though. Is it weird if I say it tastes the way a skunk smells? I don't know quite how to describe it otherwise. There's not even a bit of deep fruit flavor, it's very sparse and dry and a tad chalky. Like licking dry cement. Not a wine I'd drink by choice. 79 pts
The 2010 vintage of the Italian red wine Lamezia Riserva is matured for 24 months in stainless steel tanks then another year in French oak barrels and finally 6 months in bottle before it's released from the winery. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
