Vintages Wine Panel: An intriguing nose offering masala spice, cherry, black raspberry, smoke, nutmeg and cloves. Dry and medium bodied, the palate is very fresh and seamlessly balanced and poised. Characterful and with great structure. The alcohol is 12.5% and beautifully integrated with the tannins, acidity and fruit. Wonderfully harmonious. Cellar for 2-4 years or enjoy tonight. My note: Lovely sweetly ripe cherries on the nose with soft rose petals. Medium-bodied and satin smooth. Surely, one of Canada’s best pinots at this price point (it’s a bargain).

Pinot Noir food pairings: rare roast beef.

Reviews and Ratings

Allie Hughes rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Le Clos Jordanne is amongst my very favourite purveyors in Niagara's wine region and this bottle is an excellent example of why. Pinot Noir is a winemakers grape and is dedicates itself to showcasing the vineyard with terroir aplenty and lots of room for an artful hand to make it shine. This is exactly what was accomplished with this bottle - cherry aplenty, and in such a beautiful and delicate way. The smoke and pepper lend to the earthy undertones of this classically new world example of Pinot Noir. Cloves are the most notable spice in this wine but the barrel treatment is elegant and you can smell and taste that with each experience. Pair with mushrooms... or save for a rainy day in say 3 of 4 years!
Corinna Horton rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A pleasurable wine experience. Hints of smoke, pepper, and dark fruit in the nose. In the mouth it's smooth with dark fruit and peppered cherry. A beautifully balanced, medium-bodied wine with great potential. Thinking of cellaring a bottle or two; if I can stop drinking the stuff. Benefits from 30 - 45 minutes of decanting time.
Dan Trcka Wine Blogger rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The 2009 Le Clos Jordanne Village Reserve Pinot Noir, is a light bodied, fruity to integrated wine, with appealing aromas of red currant, rosehip, smoke and faint oak. It has refined tannins (decant for 30 min) and a medium to long finish. This wine can be enjoyed for the next 5+ years. My impression: quite NICE, 89 pts. Tasted July/12.

Jason Solanki rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Intense smoky, meat, pepper, and dark fruit aromas. Bitter, dark fruits, minerality on the palate, finishing with sour cherry and touch of pepper. Balanced, light- to medium-bodied, extra dry. Tasted July/2012.
Gabriel Israel rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Pleasant perfumed  nose of Pinot yet with hints of barn yard. Dusty tannins. Mineral notes. Red cherries. Candies on the medium finish. Good Pinot. Not amazing.
Nina rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Lovely Pinot!
Dark cherry color, on the nose smoky, dried cherries, spice. After a while, opens more to the pafumy, floral aromas.
On the palate dry, medium bodied, balanced with mineral notes. Medium finish with red berries flavor.
Holly Bruns rated this wine as 84/100 with the following review:

A little smoky on the nose with definite earthy aromas. Some bright cherry and pepper fills out the bowl nicely. Light, with mild tannins and an acidic, sour finish.
Susan Desjardins reviewed this wine as follows:

Semi-transparent ruby-garnet, the wine offers intriguing complex aromas of cherry, raspberry, beetroot, dried herbs and a smokyy cedar note. Dry, medium bodied, the spice cherry/berry fruit and earthy, mineral character is well framed by lively acidity and silky tannins. There’s attractive warmth through the palate and a juicy, fresh persistent finish. Nicely balanced and cellarable, this wine pairs well with the earthy flavours of Avonlea Clothbound Cheddar.
