The 2017 Le Grand Clos Chardonnay explodes from the glass with ripe tropical fruits, pineapple, baked apple, perfumed spring blossoms, and sweet yet subtle vanilla bean notes. One taste of this fine wine showcases how rich, complex, and unique it is, and serves as a great reminder for how loved Le Grand Clos was in earlier vintages and how much it’s been missed until now! Full bodied and beautifully textured, with zesty citrus, ripe orchard fruit, creamy butter, and toasty lees persisting on the long finish. A great example of what exceptional terroir and skilled winemaking can achieve when they overlap. I greet the return of Thomas Bachelder and Le Grand Clos with open arms and thank him, once again, for showing what’s possible here in Ontario. This is an outstanding expression of Niagara Chardonnay that I’d recommend enjoying over the next decade. A terrific wine to begin a vertical with in anticipation of other great vintages of Le Grand Clos to come. Tasted November 2019. 94 points. Matt Steeves – www.quercusvino.ca

2017 was not an easy vintage for Niagara which makes this wine even more extraordinary. The fruit is predominantly ripe yellow apple with hints of meyer lemon and ripe peach, the palate is soft and mouth filling with buttery popcorn and vanilla. The flavours linger, this wine insists on being enjoyed and savoured. A must try for all Chardonnay lovers. Can be enjoyed now or stored for 3 to 5 years. A perfect pairing with boiled lobster dipped in butter or a creamy pasta dish such as fettucine alfredo.

A rich, full-bodied Niagara Chardonnay with aromas of ripe apple, and soft citrus. Present but soft acidity on the palate with notes of smoky wood. A long finish that would be excellent for sipping or paired with seafood and roast chicken. This wine can be aged further.
|From the Niagara Peninsula wine region, Le Clos Jordanne Le Grand Clos 2017 Chardonnay is a rich and savoury, full-bodied white made by world renown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay winemaker, Thomas Bachelder in a joint venture with new winery owners, Arterra Canada. Look for layers of creamy orchard fruit, honeyed lemon, toasted almond, savoury and butterscotch flavours on the palate and a long, long finish. Chill and enjoy now and for the next five years. - Community Wine Reviews|
