Lavau's Côtes Du Rhône from Rhône is a vibrant, medium-bodied red wine blending Grenache and Syrah with notes of blackberry, red cherry, sweet spice and black pepper. This dry wine displays supple tannins and juicy fruit that make it immediately approachable. Serve it at room temperature with grilled lamb sausages as the wine's bright acidity complements the charred meat, or pair it with aged cheddar and fig jam where the wine's red fruit balances the sharp cheese. Winemaker Jean-Marie Lavau crafts this fruit-driven wine from selected parcels across the southern Rhône Valley, stretching from Montélimar to Nîmes, where diverse terroirs create wines of remarkable freshness and complexity at accessible prices. The Lavau family has been involved in winemaking for several generations, originally in Saint-Émilion before focusing on crafting well-priced wines from the Rhône Valley that showcase the region's potential for everyday enjoyment. This tasty, mouth-filling Côtes du Rhône represents exceptional value under $15 and will drink beautifully through 2030.

Food pairings: roast leg of lamb, tourtiere, grilled venison sausages.
