an Ecológico Crianza from Rioja is a fresh, medium-bodied red offering aromas of tart red plum, crushed iris, and hints of toasted almond. It's dry with polished tannins and vibrant acidity. Serve it at room temperature with pan-seared duck breast as the wine's bright fruit and herbal complexity will enhance the crispy skin and tender meat beautifully, or pair it with aged Manchego cheese where the wine's refined structure and persistent finish will complement the cheese's nutty depth perfectly. Winemaker María Barúa, who has led the technical direction at Bodegas Lan since 2002 and became Technical Director in 2007, is renowned as an oak aging expert who carefully matches each wine to the perfect barrel. This wine is crafted from 100% organically certified Tempranillo from the five-hectare Mantible Ecológico parcel within the famed Viña Lanciano estate, fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for 14 months in new French oak barrels. The vineyard sits at 400 meters elevation overlooking the ruins of the Roman bridge of Mantible on a meander of the River Ebro. Enjoy from 2024 or cellar for 2-5 years.

Food pairings: pan-seared duck breast, aged Manchego cheese, beef empanadas.
