Black cherry liqueur richness and concentration on the nose and palate. Layered complexity on this full-bodied red wine made from grapes grown on 60-year-old vines in a 5-acre vineyard with soils of decomposed limestone over red clay. Aromas of black fruit, cedar brush and smoke with a long finish. Classic. Stéphane Vedeau is winemaker.

Reviews and Ratings

Mymi Thesingingsommelier - Sommelier, FWS rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

So what would it take for Stéphane Vedeau, the owner and winemaker at ‘La Ferme Du Mont’ in the Southern part of Les Côtes du Rhône to even be interested in purchasing a piece of land to add to his vineyard collection? In his words, he is “terroir-attracted” and looks for fresh minerality in the soil.
Not only do you find that fresh minerality in the wines that he carefully crafts but you also taste the land and that natural harmonious balance that he skillfully maintains through the winemaking process. His wines are all organic products, free of chemicals and pesticides, the fertilizers are organic in nature and he even uses ambient or natural yeasts to ferment the wines.
This 2013 Gigondas is a blend of at least 80% Grenache with Mourvèdre and Syrah making up the balance. The grapes for this wine hail from a 4 Hectare vineyard in the Gigondas AOC. When asked to describe this wine, Stéphane’s answer was “feminine”. When asked to elaborate, he replied: “When rusticity becomes elegant, the wine becomes feminine”. Only one sip and you will understand what he meant!
The wine is a deep purply red and the legs stain the inside of the glass.
On the nose, it exudes aromas of ripe red fruit & plums, garrigue, cloves, black earth and orange oil.
On the palate, it is very rich, spicy and sensual. There is a subtle hint of orange, dark fruit cake, and stewed black cherry jam. Dry and beautifully balanced.
Incredible!
Alex & Priya - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Priya: I'm digging the deep, dark berry colour! The description say it's "slightly meaty" and I certainly get that since it smells like a parcel from the butcher shop. Not a plus for this vegan.

Alex: Well my lady, try focusing on the other aromas--it's intensely floral with caraway seed, camphor, truffle and black liquorice.

Priya: Nope. I find it hard to get past the meatiness but it does have an undertone of stewed berries. Fair bit of tannins too, although not enough to suck all the moisture out of your mouth so that's a good thing.

Alex: This is so layered on the palate, spicy throughout, lavender-kissed, great freshness. Well in balance as the alcohol doesn't detract from the flavour at all. Excellent harmony, a top gigondas in my opinion.
