The 2014 vintage of La Tremenda is a single vineyard, medium-bodied red made with 100% Monastrell wine grapes. Enrique Mendoza is the producer of this Alicante wine region red and La Tremenda comes from a single vineyard planted 16 years ago at 600 metres above sea level The wine was fermented in stainless steel and aged in 500-litre oak vats for six months. A terrific, full-bodied Spanish red wine at an amazingly great price for the quality. Aromas of dark fruit, smoke, earth. Pair with grilled lamb.

Monastrell food pairings: roast beef, chicken brochettes, pork chops smothered in wine sauce.

Reviews and Ratings

Produced by Enrique Mendoza, La Tremenda (2014) is a single-vineyard, medium-bodied red 100% Monastrell from the Alicante wine region in Spain. The wine is fresh, vibrant with red fruit, dried herbs finishing with a salty tang (from limestone soils) and powdery tannins. This wine was aged in 500 litre barrels for six months. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
