Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Year after year, this Mrziano Abbona's offerings maintain such a reasonable price/quality ratio.
This Barolo is sitting on around five years of age amd it still has a bit of life to go.
100% Nebbiolo, with traditional aromatics of tar, florality, walnut shell, and bright red berries.
The flavours are lip-smacking and juicy. A lot more taught berry, smoke, spent coffee grounds, nutmeg and baking spice.
Decanting gently for an hour would really help this wine. You could lie a few down and have something affordable and genuinely interesting to wow houseguests.
Pair this with the classic truffle risotto for a feel of Piemontese richness and style.
La Pieve 2014 is a well-priced and full-bodied Barolo with burnt citrus, loads of dark fruit, dark cherry, tar, smoky, toasty, leather and spicy flavours on the palate. Tannins are grippy on this 100% Nebbiolo and the wine could benefit from two to three more years in cellar. If pouring now, decant for two hours and pair with a prime rib roast. - Community Wine Reviews
