Kopke's Late Bottle Vintage Port from the Douro D.O.P. pours a deep, inky garnet in the glass, opening with seductive aromas of crushed blackcurrant, macerated plum, dried fig, and a whisper of baking spice and dark cocoa. It's full-bodied, gloriously sweet, and lush on the palate, with silky, well-integrated tannins and a finish that lingers with notes of mocha and black cherry compote. Serve it slightly below room temperature and enjoy it now or cellar it through 2040, as this wine has the structure and concentration to reward patience. Winemaker and Port Master Blender Carla Tiago, who has overseen Kopke's wines since 2022, crafts this LBV from a single harvest using traditional Douro varieties including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and Sousão, with the wine spending four to six years maturing in large oak vats before bottling. Remarkably, Kopke is the oldest Port house in existence, founded in 1638 and predating even the official demarcation of the Douro wine region itself. Pair it with a wedge of bold Gorgonzola drizzled with honey on crusty bread, where the wine's sweetness beautifully tames the cheese's sharp bite, or serve it alongside a warm chocolate lava cake, letting the Port's dark fruit intensity echo the molten centre.

Port food pairings: blue veined cheeses, chocolate brownies, chocolate desserts.
