This could be a dessert wine. Konzelmann 2016 is a late-harvest, softy sweet Gewürztraminer, spicy on the nose with rosewater, lychee aromas layered with ripe apricot, lychee, pink florals and gingerbread spice on the palate. Fourth-generation winemaker, Herbert Konzelmann, came from Germany to Canada in the 1980s and created the Konzelmann winery in the Niagara Peninsula wine growing region, a wine region that reminded him of Alsace. This vintage was awarded Gold at the 2018 Ontario Wine Awards. Enjoy with mildly spiced foods or custard and fruit tartes.

Gewürztraminer food pairings: lighter-flavoured sea-food dishes, Asian dishes, pork tenderloin, curried rice.

Reviews and Ratings

From the Niagara Peninsula, Ontario wine region, Konzelmann 2016 is a late harvest Gewürztraminer with rose petals, lychee and sweet spice on the nose, off-dry, weighty and layered with lychee fruit, rosewater, ginger and lemon curd flavours on the palate. Great acidity for food and very versatile. Could pair with a mild curry or Korean rib dish as it could with a lemon custard fruit flan or fresh fruit tarte. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
