Kew Pinot Meunier Natural Brut from Ontario's Beamsville Bench is an elegant, bone-dry sparkling wine showcasing notes of golden delicious apple, warm brioche, and subtle roasted hazelnut. This sparkling wine is made using Méthode Traditionnelle or the traditional method of the second fermentation in the bottle, just as they do in the Champagne region. It's medium-bodied with a creamy mousse and refreshing acidity that carries through to a lengthy, clean finish. Serve it well chilled with oysters on the half shell as the wine's crisp minerality and fine bubbles will complement the briny shellfish beautifully, or pair it with butternut squash risotto where the wine's richness and toasted character will enhance the creamy dish. Winemaker Philip Dowell crafts this pioneering zero-dosage sparkler, making it the first of its kind in Ontario as Pinot Meunier is traditionally reserved for blending rather than showcased as a single varietal. The estate's vines, planted in 1975, are among the oldest in the Niagara region, giving this wine remarkable depth and character. This wine drinks beautifully now or can cellar for another 3-4 years to develop additional complexity.

Pinot Meunier Natural Brut Sparkling food pairings: oysters on the half shell, butternut squash risotto, smoked salmon canapés.
