Such an elegant, yet expressive Californian Cabernet on the nose. Aromas of blackcurrant cassis mingle with dried herbs and cigar box. The palate opens to layers of dark fruit anise and smoke. Terrific balance, depth and length with a dry finish. Pair with filet mignon or lamb with rosemary.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: lamb, pork tenderloin, pepper steak, hamburgers, cheese.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Deep ruby with purple hue. Black raspberry, cassis, plum, vanilla, smoke, leather, pencil. Palate reveals sweet cigar box, black earth, anise. Tannins are youthful and grippy. Suggest decanting for at least an hour. Medium+ acidity. Will benefit from some time in the cellar.
Tasted: November 8, 2014
This Californian red wine is made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown in Sonoma, mostly Knights Valley. It's actually a blend of 94.9% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4.4% Petit Verdot and the remainder Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes. The wine was matured in French oak barrels mostly, with a few American oak barrels for the 2011 vintage. - Community Wine Reviews
