Deal of the Century! Full-bodied, juicy, savoury and delicious. Loaded with dark wild blackberries and forest-deep cherries and cedar. Oh yum.

Monastrell food pairings: mushroom and wild rice dishes, savoury meat stews.

Reviews and Ratings

Holly Bruns rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Every time I went back to the glass there was something more. At first whiff it's earthy and brambly, then comes the dark fruit and leather followed by liquorice and juniper, and lastly a little smokiness and some sweet spices. The long liquorice-tinged finish has an inviting hint of black tea and a gentle tannic presence.
John rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

High quality for a small price
Linda rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Pepper, blackberry. Full body. French oak.
Graeme Tindale rated this wine as 75/100 with the following review:

Very good; bulk of value is value for the price. Actually not in love - would go with Jackson Triggs.
Juan Gil is a specialist with the Monastrell (aka Mourvèdre) variety. This grape is thought to have originated in Spain, where producers use it to create intense, deeply coloured wines. Here is a great example from Spain’s Jumilla region, where the grape is comfortably at home. The wine spends four months in a mix of French and American oak, adding toast and coconut accents to the floral, red fruit, and earthy aromas and flavours. Source: Vintages Wine Panel
