Single vineyard, So mouth-wateringly delicious! The shiraz grapes are grown in the foothills of the Hottentot Mountains overlooking False Bay, thus Journey's End. The vines are planted in ancient mineral soils and benefit from cool coastal breezes. The wine is aged for 18 months in 3,000 litre oak barrels (very large so they don't impart a lot of oak flavour). Savoury and juicy with a meaty note that makes this ultra delicious. This is a full-bodied red that will tempt you to drink it too fast: it's that tasty. Aromas of fleshy black fruit and hedonistic happiness. MINE: Journey's End Gabb Family Winery (2012) makes this Barrel Selection Shiraz from the Stellenbosch wine region. They are committed to ethical and sustainable wine production and are accredited with WIETA (The Wine Industry Ethical Trading Association), the Biodiversity and Wine Initiative (BWI) and IPW (Integrated Production of Wine). OTHER: Made entirely with Shiraz from a single vineyard, this wine wowed our panel with its amazing intensity of ripe plum, smoke and vanilla backed by a subtle minty note. Big and balanced, with good length, it'll make a great partner for braised mutton or beef. (Vintages panel, April 2018). - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
