Mouth-watering acidity on this incredibly balanced Sancerre with green apple crunch, gooseberry, vivid citrus and flinty mineral flavours on the palate. Pair with oysters Rockefeller, shrimp on toast and grilled, lemon-herbed chicken breasts. The Joseph Mellot family estate has been making wine in the Loire Valley since 1513.

Sancerre food pairings: seafood chowder, Coquilles St. Jacques, Alfredo seafood.

Reviews and Ratings

Produced by Joseph Mellot La Chatellenie 2017 is a brilliant Sauvignon Blanc Sancerre, mouth-watering, flinty with light herbs, grassy notes and green apple flavours on the palate. This Burgundian white wine is made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes fermented in stainless steel tank at low and controlled temperatures to capture all of the fruit freshness and matured on its lees for structure and finesse. This family estate has been making wine in the Loire Valley for over four centuries. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
