Huber's Obere Steigen Grüner Veltliner from the Traisental DAC is a vibrant, vegan-friendly, medium-bodied white of cool-climate precision and effortless charm, opening with an inviting bouquet of green plum, dried tarragon, preserved yuzu, warm hay, and a signature whisper of freshly cracked white pepper that is the unmistakable calling card of great Grüner Veltliner. It's dry and beautifully balanced, with a restrained creaminess on the palate, a focused stony minerality, and a long, herb-laced finish that refreshes and invigorates with every sip. The Traisental is one of Austria's most exciting and underappreciated wine regions, a cool, narrow valley carved by the Traisen river south of the Danube, where the dramatic temperature swings between day and night preserve the natural acidity and aromatic intensity that make wines like this so compelling. Huber is a benchmark producer in the Traisental, farming their vineyards sustainably and crafting wines that are as honest and expressive as the stony, loess-rich soils from which they come. Serve it well chilled alongside veal schnitzel with a squeeze of lemon and a light green salad, where the wine's herbal lift and stony freshness are a classically elegant match, or pair it with roast pork with apple and mustard, letting the wine's crispness and peppery backbone cut through the richness of the dish with wonderful precision. Enjoy it through 2028.

Grüner Veltliner food pairings: roast pork, veal schnitzels, salads, seafood dishes.
