Reviews and Ratings

Rebecca Meir-Liebman - Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The Hirtl winery is family-owned winery that’s been around for almost 300 years. Grüner Veltliner is the leading grape variety of the Weinviertel region of Austria, and it displays the unique character of that beautiful terroir. Its herbal notes of celery, dill, and bell pepper combined with a spiciness, yellow apple fruitiness, and notes of pear, is what makes this wine special. A great wine at its price point, it is rich and dry with good balance; drink now.
Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Citrus, white peach, and white pepper on the nose. Extra dry with racy acidity. Impressively textured mouthfeel. Citrus pith, white peach, and a hint of celery. Good finish with fruit and minerality. Enjoyed with roast chicken. White fish with lemon, shellfish, and poultry are just a few of the many foods that would match this wine wonderfully.
From Austria's Weinviertel wine region, Hirtl 2016 is a dry Grüner Veltliner with laser acidity. Look for a basket of herbs, celery and pepper spice flavours on the palate. Pair with mild Thai curries or cream of Asparagus soup. This vintage was awarded Silver at the 2017 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. - Community Wine Reviews

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
