Hermanos Hernáiz Finca La Selva Gran Reserva from Rioja is an elegant, full-bodied red featuring aromas of ripe dark cherry, toasted oak, and fresh rosemary. It's dry with silky tannins and beautifully integrated structure. Serve it slightly below room temperature with herb-roasted leg of lamb as the wine's savory notes and refined texture will enhance the meat's natural richness, or pair it with aged sheep's milk cheese where the wine's complexity and smooth finish will complement the cheese's nutty character perfectly. Brothers Eduardo and Víctor Hernáiz craft this wine from grapes grown on their historic Finca La Emperatriz estate, once owned by Empress Eugénie de Montijo, the last Empress of France, whose wines from this property won recognition at the 1878 Paris Universal Exhibition. After extended aging in barrel and bottle according to traditional Gran Reserva protocols, this wine showcases the distinctive minerality imparted by the estate's unique gravelly soils. Enjoy now or cellar for 7-9 years.

Food pairings: herb-roasted leg of lamb, aged sheep's milk cheese, roasted duck breast.
