COLHEITA SELECCIONADA / New World power and vibrancy in the fruit here: big purple and black plums, fleshy and ripe. Tannic grip on the palate needs to be tamed with cellar time or decanting of 2 hours. Pair with grilled meats. MINE: This concentrated Portuguese red wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah as well as native grapes such as Tourigas, Nacional and Franca. This is the second generation of this family to make this wine and they are celebrating their 16th harvest. This wine was aged for 1 year in 4 type of oak barrels, and then another year in the bottle. OTHER: A celebration of the generation that has run the estate, this wine is powerful and firmly structured. Made for long-term aging, it's packed with dusty tannins and dense, juicy blackberry fruit and has a concentrated aftertaste. Still developing, it will be ready from 2019. Score - 92 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, May 1, 2017). - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Eric Asimov, The New York Times

Unquenchable: A Tipsy Search

  Best Books of the Year

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
