A chardonnay lover's chardonnay. One of South Africa's benchmark producers of Chardonnay in a cool climate region of the country of Hermanus. Rich, concentrated and hedonistic, yet with a nervy edge in this South African Chardonnay. A concentrated vein of tree fruit and minerality. Perfectly balanced between luscious ripe peach and green apple, toasty oak and a nervy seam of acidity for a range of dishes, from roast chicken to seafood. Highly recommended.

Chardonnay food pairings: prawn bisque, chicken breast, frittata, cheese fondue, turkey.

Reviews and Ratings

A Chardonnay lover's Chardonnay. Hamilton Russel Vineyards sees the strongest maritime influence of any winegrowing area in South Africa. At less than two kilometres from the Atlantic Ocean's Walker Bay, the cooling influence of the cold Benguela current flowing up from Antarctica flows over the vineyard with the prevailing southeast winds allowing for cooler days but warmer nights and warmer winters. The overall climate is Mediterranean. - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
