Frescobaldi Campo ai Sassi Rosso di Montalcino D.O.C. from Tuscany is a dry, medium-bodied 100% Sangiovese that announces itself with a fragrant, lifted nose of tart red cherry, wild strawberry, dried violet, meadow herbs, and a delicate thread of white pepper. On the palate it is elegantly structured, with bright, mouthwatering acidity, fine grippy tannins, juicy dark berry fruit, and a clean, savory finish that lingers with a whisper of dried sage and citrus zest. Serve it slightly below room temperature and enjoy from 2026 through 2034, as the wine has both the freshness and the backbone to develop beautifully with time. Chief winemaker Nicolò D'Afflitto crafts this wine from hand-harvested Sangiovese grown on the deep soils of the Tenuta CastelGiocondo estate, fermenting in stainless steel and aging partly in steel and partly in Slavonian oak barrels before several months of bottle rest. Tenuta CastelGiocondo is one of the original four estates that began producing Brunello di Montalcino in the 1800s, and Frescobaldi, now led by the 30th generation of the family, has been crafting wine in Tuscany for over 700 years. Pair it with tagliatelle tossed in a slow-simmered Bolognese, where the wine's bright acidity cuts through the richness of the sauce, or try it with herb-rubbed roast chicken, letting the wine's wild herb character echo the aromatics of the dish.

Rosso Di Montalcino food pairings: breaded veal cutlets, duck breast with celeriac salad, tagliatelle alla Bolognese, chicken herb-rubbed roast.
