RESERVE / The 2015 vintage is a blend of 96% Zinfandel and 4% Petite Sirah. The wine was matured in both French and American oak barrels. A robust Californian red wine with delicious aromas and flavors of fleshy ripe purple and black plums with spicy wild red berries on the finish. Smooth and supple. The fruit profile is not as raisined as it is in some Californian Zinfandels. This is a juicy, pleasing red wine. Perfect for potluck gatherings featuring grilled meats. MINE: Frei Brothers Winery Reserve 2015 is a robust 96% Zinfandel and 4% Petite Sirah red wine blend with purple and black plum aromas, flavours and blueberry pie notes on the finish. Smooth and supple. The fruit profile is not as raisined as it is in some Californian Zinfandels. Nonetheless, this is a juicy, pleasing red wine. Perfect for potluck gatherings featuring grilled meats. This vintage was awarded a Gold Medal and a 90-point score at the 2017 Sommelier Challenge International Wine Competition. OTHER: Aged five months in 35% new American oak, the 2016 Zinfandel is medium to deep garnet-purple colored and reveals intense notions of crushed black cherries, raspberries and garrigue with hints of dried herbs and spice cake. The palate is medium to full-bodied with a chewy frame and lively line lifting the decadent fruit, finishing long and spicy. Drink Date: 2019-2022. Score - 90 (Lisa Perrotti-Brown, MW, robertparker.com, Jan. 31, 2019). - Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
