Sweet mocha, dark chocolate, espresso and spice on the nose of this full-bodied, smooth Niagara red wine. Uses the Appassimento method of drying grapes before fermentation to add alcohol, and heft to the wine. Pair with Mexican mole or a dish with sweetness.

Reviews and Ratings

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Lovely and concentrated aromatics of blackcurrant, black cherry, cherry compote, dried fig, and cigar smoke. Tasty on the palate, leading with light sweetness before acid and tannins bring the wine into harmony. Fig, cherry, currant, and dark chocolate flavours. 125 days of drying for the appassimento grapes that make up 52% of this wine. 26 months in a combination of French and American oak before bottling. Pair with red meats, blue cheese, or dark chocolate. The 2013 marks the first vintage of this hugely popular and successful offering from Foreign Affair, and is their first partial appassimento Cabernet Franc.
Sweet mocha, dark chocolate, espresso and spice on the nose of this full-bodied, smooth Niagara red wine. The wine grapes for this wine are 100% Cabernet Franc with half of them dried in the Appassimento style before being added to the fermenting wine, making this a very lush and fruitful wine. - Community Wine Reviews
