Natalie's Score: 93/100

From the Serralunga D'alba, Piedmont wine region, another strong vintage Barolo produced by Fontanafredda The 2014 vintage is a medium-bodied, elegant red aged in small oak barrel and large oaks casks. Floral on the nose with soft red berries and rose petals on the nose, on the palate, it is dry with dusty roses, fresh red berry fruit and chocolate notes on the palate. Very elegant. Tannins are firm and grippy. There is good acidity for food. Decant two hours prior to serving with a game dish.

Barolo food pairings: hamburgers, aged cheese, venison, grilled beef, roast veal.

Fontanafredda 2014 is a dry, medium-bodied Barolo from the Serralunga D'alba, Piedmont wine region and from another strong vintage. The Barolo was aged in both small oak barrel and large oaks casks. Floral on the nose with soft red berries, rose petals on the nose. Dusty wild roses, fresh red berry fruit on the palate with chocolate overtones. Very elegant. Tannins are firm and grippy and there is certainly good acidity for food. Decant two hours prior to serving with a venison roast. Enjoy now and for the next 10 years. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
