There are just over 100 grams per litre of residual sugar in this Portuguese dessert wine, so it's intense and sweet yet balanced on the palate. Lots of fleshy blackberry jam and black plum preserves on the palate and finish. Pair this fortified wine with Black Forest Cake or chocolate cheesecake.

Port food pairings: fresh field berries in cream, Camembert, honey cake, chocolate cookies.

Reviews and Ratings

The 2009 vintage of Fonseca's Late Bottled Vintage Port is not filtered and is made from a traditional blend of Douro grapes. This dessert wine was matured in large oak vats for 5 years before being bottled in 2014. Winemaker David Guimaraens recommends enjoying the late bottled vintage style of port soon after it's bottled rather than cellaring it, though it will also cellar well. - Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
