Vintages Wine Panel: Situated at the crossroads of the Mediterranean, Sicily is steeped in a winemaking history that dates back to the ancient Greeks. The island has near-perfect grape-growing conditions, with its warm and dry climate and a mountainous landscape for cooler site selection. Both indigenous and classic international varieties thrive here, producing a full range of wines from rich, flavorful reds to crisp, dry whites to dessert wines. Local producers have been adapting and modernizing their winemaking and viticulture techniques with exciting results. Sicilian winemakers are now, more than ever, creating wines that clearly express the island’s distinct character and terroir. Here’s your chance to discover Sicily’s unique and thoroughly enchanting wines. My note: Rich cherry liqueur on the nose with a black heart through the palate. Full-bodied and brooding, with black raspberry and dark prune notes. A wine looking for a fight but not with your food.

Nero D'avola food pairings: prime rib, brisket, leg of lamb.

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
