This robust and warming Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore from the Veneto wine region is the one you want to have at the ready by the hearth. Ripe dark cherries, dried raisin, fig and dark chocolate flavours with a smoky vanilla finish. This is a comfort wine and with vibrant acidity to go with comfort food.

Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore food pairings: linguini marinara, slow-braised lamb shanks with tomato and garlic, tomato garlic and clam sauce over penne.

Reviews and Ratings

Feudi San Pio 2016 Italy is a Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore from the Veneto D.O.C. Well-priced under $20, this robust Italian red wine is a blend of Corvina and other native grapes. Ripassos have that additional concentration and body because the Valpolicella wine is`repassed over Amarone lees. Lovely cherry liqueur, coffee, vanilla and smoky flavours on this example with a lingering toasty, ripe dark cherry finish. Great acidity for food. Pair with grilled sausages or meaty stews. - Community Wine Reviews
