Faustino V Reserva D.O.Ca. Rioja is a medium-bodied, Tempranillo-led red aged in American oak, then a year in bottle before release, and it's been showing up on Spanish tables looking this good since the family first started bottling in 1920. On the nose it opens with dried cranberry, warm vanilla, and cracked pepper. The palate is juicy and fresh, with tart pomegranate, tobacco leaf, and a long, silky finish with fine-grained tannins that carry the fruit cleanly to the end. This is the first Faustino V to include Maturana Tinta in the blend, an ancient Riojan grape variety that adds a deeper mineral intensity to the wine's already firm structure. Drink it now through 2030 with slow-roasted leg of lamb with herbs, or serve it with traditional Spanish tapas including jamón ibérico and aged Manchego.

Tempranillo food pairings: cloved ham, roast lamb, traditional Spanish tapas, grilled pork.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
