Reviews and Ratings

Alex & Priya - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A complex nose as expected, deft coconut framing a savoury amalgam of rotting lumber, dried herbs, leather and baking spices. Sensual and refined, rustic elegance, there's a fine degree of stuffing to its midweight frame. Dusty strawberries on a wet forest floor and wood that doesn't detract adds to its complexity. Doesn't have the blockbuster palate of the '01, but it's very fine and could still use another 5 or more years aging. 91 pts
You'll recognize this robust Spanish red wine from its bottle, which seems covered in cellar dust. The 2004 vintage of the Faustino I Gran Reserva is mainly Tempranillo with 9% Graciano 9% and 5% Mazuelo (aka Cariñena) grapes. The wine was aged for 26 months in oak barrels. There were 500,000 bottles of this wine produced of this Gran Reserva for this vintage. - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
