Reviews and Ratings

A gorgeous northern Italian red wine made from the Sangiovese grape. Aromas of wild truffle, violets, earth and smoke. Full-bodied, complex, elegant and long. Decant 1-2 hours. Pair with truffled risotto. MINE: Fattoria dei Barbi 2012 is a dry, full-bodied Brunello di Montalcino from the Tuscany wine region. Lots of ripe dark and sweet red cherry flavours with leather, tobacco leaf, field herbs and smoke on this mighty red. Decant for two hours prior to pouring with a bison burger or Tomahawk steak. Also a good cellaring candidate -- about 15 years. OTHER: The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino exhibits a nicely balanced presentation with dark fruit layers that are embellished by well-managed oak spice and savory smoke. This vintage is particularly elegant and tight, with streamlined intensity that builds slowly in the glass as the wine takes on more volume and general breathing space. The finish is long, silky and should well endure the test of time. Drink Date: 2020-2035. Score - 93 (Monica Larner, robertparker.com, Feb. 28, 2018). - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
