Vesevo Greco di Tufo D.O.C.G. from Campania is a medium-bodied white grown on the volcanic clay and limestone soils of Irpinia, where the grape has been cultivated since Greek colonists arrived in the 8th century BCE and named the town of Tufo for the volcanic tuff beneath their feet. On the nose it's precise and lifted, with white grapefruit, white blossom, crushed chalk, and a cool flint-tinged minerality. The palate is taut and energetic, with lemon curd, green apple, a whisper of dried apricot, and a long, saline mineral finish with bracing, food-friendly acidity. Vesevo was created in 2000 as a collaboration between Abruzzo's celebrated Farnese Vini and local Campanian partners, with the name referencing the ancient Latin name for Mount Vesuvius, whose volcanic eruptions over millennia built the mineral-rich soils that give Greco di Tufo its distinctive character. Serve it well chilled now through 2030 with fried calamari, where the wine's citrus edge and saline finish cut through the batter, or try it with lemon shrimp pasta where its bright acidity lifts the richness of the dish.

Greco Di Tufo food pairings: fried calamari, grilled shrimp, lemon shrimp pasta.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
