Winemakers Patrick Mollendorf and Sumi Gebauer, who both honed their craft at the legendary Dr. Loosen estate before taking the reins at Villa Wolf in 2011, bring a minimalist, terroir-driven philosophy to the cellar that lets the sunny warmth of the Pfalz speak clearly in every glass. The estate itself was founded in 1756 as the J.L. Wolf estate and enjoyed a glamorous renaissance when an Italianate villa was constructed on the grounds in 1843, before the legendary Ernst Loosen stepped in to rescue the languishing property in 1996 and transform it into one of Germany's most admired Pinot Noir producers, earning Loosen the title of Decanter Man of the Year in 2005.
