Reviews and Ratings

From Castilla Y León, Bierzo Wine Region, El Valao Pago De Valdoneje 2015 is a single-vineyard Mencia produced in Valtuille by Vinos Valtuille. This first vintage was fermented in 1,000-litre stainless steel vats and matured in previous use French oak barrels. The Mencia wine grape are sourced from a 90-year-old vineyard and the reason why the wine is named "El Valao". On the nose, there are aromas of bright, ripe red fruits with spicy toasty notes. On the palate, the wine dry, medium-plus-bodied with good acidity and ripe red berry, balsamic, cedar spice and toasty oak flavours. Pair with roast boar. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
