Natalie's Score: 86/100

A pleasant, full-bodied Spanish red wine with lots of acidity on the palate, black fruit and oak. The bird featured on the label is one often found in Rioja vineyards. It eats the bees and insects that eats the vine grapes so they call it the Guardian. Pair this wine with game birds ;)

Reviews and Ratings

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A clean, aromatic and flavourful crowd-pleasing Spanish red. Vanilla and plum notes dominate the nose while berry, cocoa, candied black licorice, and tobacco flavours linger on the palate. This budget friendly Spanish red wine is crafted from 100% Tempranillo grapes sourced from various vineyards in the Rioja region. Enjoy this medium-bodied, grippy, developing wine with grilled beef kebabs. Tasted June 2017 by @sommsosa | bespoketastings,ca
Kimberly Inksater - Sommelier rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Abundant aromas and flavours reminiscent of violets, oregano, white pepper, black licorice and dark berries. Balanced acidity and tannins, dry mouthfeel. This wine is good value. Pair with a steak, merguez sausage or other lamb dishes.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
