Reviews and Ratings

Molly Amoli Shinhat reviewed this wine as follows:

This Tinto Fino 2008, 100% Tempranillo grapes, wrapped in bold, deep garnet richness, is a virtuoso with food! I had it with kerala, bitter gourd, prepared in classic Punjabi style. It's an unfiltered Crianza, aged for 8 months in Hungarian and French wood barrels.

Sip after sip, the fruit, the acidity, the earthiness, danced a foxtrot with that bitterness. It has all the bold notes: high acidity, high tannins, high alcohol at 13.5% and dry at 2 g/l residual sugar. It sports a strong nose - found 5" from the glass! Violets, black fruit and pungent spice, with earth, cooked dark fruit and wood rounding it out on the palate, ending long.

Quite dry tannins - possibly due to long bottle ageing (?) - begin to take over the finish. Unfiltered here means racking, i.e. transferring the wine to another container, letting any solid matter sink to the bottom through gravity.

Winemaking arrived in Spain at least 1000 years BCE. This drink-now wine speaks volumes about its region and Spanish winemaking traditions and expertise. Pairs stunningly with bitter foods. Also pairs with rich foods, meat or vegetable-based.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
