Domaine Michelle Philipon Burgundy offers enticing aromas of wild strawberry, rose petal and earthy mushroom. It's dry and medium-bodied with a silky texture. Serve it lightly chilled with crispy duck confit where the wine's acidity cuts through the richness while its delicate fruit complements the crispy skin, or cellar it through 2028. Winemaker Christophe Philipon represents the fourth generation of his family's domaine, which he expanded to the Côte de Beaune in 2014 when he established operations in Pommard—his grandmother Jeannine first planted vines in 1946, and his mother Michelle formalized the estate in 1990 by acquiring Premier Cru parcels in Chablis. This elegant wine also pairs beautifully with herb-roasted rack of lamb, where the wine's subtle woodland character echoes the rosemary while its fresh acidity balances the meat's tender richness.

Food pairings: rack of lamb, grilled salmon steaks, duck confit.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
