This is black liquid velvet; so tantalizing to the tongue and senses. Gigondas is my go-to region on a restaurant list. There are 35 acres planted for this wine that produces 50,000 bottles a year. The average age of the vines is 40 years, which imparts incredible depth and complexity of flavour in the wine. The grape are hand-picked and selected. Bursting with aromas and flavours of fleshy dark fruit, dark spices, dried herbs and garrigue. This wine is unfiltered. Pair with prime rib.

Reviews and Ratings

Produced by Céline et Bernard Chauvet, Proprietor, this robust French red wine is located at the foot of Dentelles de Montmirail (mountains). The Chauvet family have owned and operated this winery since 1806. The 2012 vintage of the Gigondas 1806 is a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah grapes. The wine was matured in large, second use oak barrels. - Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
