Reviews and Ratings

Alex & Priya - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A: Wow this is unique! From the ancient Loire white grape, romorantin, thank is only grown nowadays in one small village--Cour-Cheverny. Intense, in-your-face complex nose of petrol, cheese rind, melon pith, honeycomb, guava, bruised apple and tiger lillies. Long, lively and dry in mouth with excellent length and acidity. A very well-made wine, unlike most white wines out there. Clearly macerated with skins, aged on lees and oxidized. Funky, strange and awesome!

P: I see where you're coming from with the lillies as this has a distinct fragrance of flowers just past their prime. I smell the petrol too but that's about it. Very tart, surprising when the smell would suggest otherwise. Lemon-limey but doesn't leave a bad aftertaste. A nice wine! I'd probably prefer it with food, maybe a pasta aioli with fresh squeezed lemon.
Produced by Michel Gendrier, this French white wine made from the Romorantin grape, a sibling to Chardonnay, once grown widely throughout the Loire Valley but now only in the district of Cours Cheverny. Domaine des Huards winery benefits from aging its wines in a cool cave carved from white tuffeau rock. - Community Wine Reviews
