Domaine des Gourdins Saint-Émilion is a rich, full-bodied Right Bank Bordeaux blending 68% Merlot with 32% Cabernet Franc, two grape varieties that were practically made for each other in this storied appellation. The nose is inviting and layered, with ripe wild plum, crushed dark berries, a hint of roasted coffee, and a whisper of dried violet that gives it real elegance. The palate is plush and concentrated, with velvet-smooth tannins, a firmly dry backbone, and a long, warming finish that speaks to this wine's impressive structure. Serve it at room temperature, and it has every reason to continue developing beautifully through 2040. Notably, the 2015 vintage earned a Gold Medal at the Lyon International Wine Competition, confirming the consistent quality this small estate delivers. Saint-Émilion itself has produced wine since Roman times, and the medieval town surrounding these vineyards was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1999, making every bottle a pour from one of the most historically significant wine landscapes on earth.

Food pairings: beef bourguignon with pearl onions and mushrooms, roast duck with cherry sauce, aged Comté cheese with crusty bread.
