Domaine Costa Lazaridi's Amethystos from Drama is a bold, full-bodied red wine blending Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and indigenous Agiorgitiko with notes of black cherry, charred oak, espresso and Mediterranean herbs. This dry, concentrated wine displays firm tannins that will soften gracefully over the next five years. Serve it at room temperature with grilled lamb chops with rosemary as the wine's smoky depth enhances the charred meat, or pair it with eggplant moussaka where the wine's structure balances the rich béchamel and spiced lamb layers. Legendary consultant winemaker Michel Rolland collaborated on this cuvée, bringing his Bordeaux expertise to showcase the potential of northern Greek viticulture in the Drama region. The estate's vineyards are planted at high altitude in the shadow of Mount Falakro, where cool nights and warm days create ideal conditions for producing wines of remarkable complexity and elegance. This Amethystos will continue to develop layers of leather and dried fruit through 2030.
