Natalie's Score: 85/100

Michel Rolland has had a hand in this Greek red wine from Macedonia produced from 100% Cabernet Franc and aged for 18 months in new French oak. Smoky with crushed raspberry, cherry, dark chocolate and pepper spice flavours on the palate. Enjoyable now, but it's also a great cellaring candidate and could easily do so for another 10 years.

Food pairings: roast leg of lamb, roast garlic chicken, venison steak.

Reviews and Ratings

From the Macedonia wine region, Domaine Costa Lazaridi Amethystos Cava 2017 is made with 100% Cabernet Franc and aged for 18 months in new French oak. Smoky black fruit, ripe red berry, dark chocolate, flinty, toasty oak and pepper spice flavours on the palate. Decant two hours prior to serving with a very rare side of beef or cellar for several years. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
