Vintages Wine Panel: Domaine Berthoumieu is one of Madiran’s most reliable producers and this approachable cuvée, which features the native Tannat variety, is a great example of this appellation’s modern reinterpretation of its signature red grape. It’s a classic local blend of 55% Tannat, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Pinenc. My note: A corpulent wine loaded with cranberry, cherry liqueur, dried tobacco leaves and cigar box. Polished silky tannins give way to incredible length on the finish.

Tannat Cabernet Sauvignon Pinenc food pairings: veal marsala, grilled eggplant, tacos, spicy sausages, corned beef and cabbage, beef daube.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
